The flesh must die
Galatians 6:14 But God forbid that I should boast except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom the world has been crucified to me, and I to the world.
The word baptism is a ceremony in which a christian is immersed in water before the church to publically symbolize their belief in christ. Baptism declares that you are a follower of christ Jesus. It is a public confession of your faith in, and commitment to, Jesus Christ. It is the next step after salvation through repentance and faith.
Apostle paul lay emphasis on baptism in the book of Romans chapter six. Verse three; "don't you know that all who share in Christ Jesus by being baptized also share in His death?" Verse four; when we were baptized, we died and we're buried with Christ. We were baptized, so we would live a new life, as Christ was raised to life by the glory of God the Father. Verse five; "if we shared in Jesus' death by being baptized, we will be raised to life with Him. Verse seven; "we know sin doesn't have power over the dead people."
Man must die in order to live.
Man must give up his life to Christ in order to live by Him. Man must understand that the spirit of God gives life and the flesh profits nothing. The flesh make the law weak but the Spirit powers it.
The role of the baptism in repentance cannot be over emphasize, christians should sees it as something spiritual rather than ceremonial, Apostle paul said, "because of the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, the world is dead as far as I am concerned, and I am dead as far as the world is concerned." All christians supposed to have the same mentality.
