Forgiveness
Proverbs 19:11 The discretion of a man deferreth his anger; and it is his glory to pass over a transgression.
What does it means to forgive?
Generally speaking forgiveness is the act of pardoning an offender, to let go of ones offence or misdeed.
The scriptures teaches that man must forgive and forget the wrongs of others, (1 Corinthians 13:5). As a Christian you must know how to let go of others wrong deeds, this may seems difficult to do, but for you to act like your Father in heaven you must be merciful.
Our God is invisible and Jesus Christ is the very image of God , one may say acting like God is impossible but the one who knows the Father taught us unlimited forgiveness; when peter asked. "Lord, how many times could my brother sin against me and I forgive him? As many as seven times? (Matt 18:21). The rabbis taught that one should forgive three times, so peter thought that he was being generous. But Jesus punctured his ego by saying, "seventy times seven" (matt 18:22). It is hardly conceivable that one would offend another so many times, so, in effect, Jesus taught unlimited forgiveness.
As a Christian, you must not measure forgiveness by a mathematical formula but by one's spirit.
